I have as much love for Rose as any of the other companions. I ship Doctor/Rose but I also ship Doctor/Some-other-people, namely the Master, given their rather epic history and the fact that there is a LOT of subtext for it even though it's inherently kind of messed up.

I have mixed feelings about Amy, and while I think she's unfortunately been relegated to the bottom of my companion list, I still care about her and what happens to her, etc, etc, so I'll live regardless. However, I adore Karen Gillan and find it unfortunate that apparently it's the writing more than her that makes the character that way and I think KG does a great job given what she's working with. I think she gets Doctor Who better than MS does, honestly, but they're both what make Eleven and Amy's respective obnoxiousness work for me and be endearing instead of enraging, though I do have my points of complaint with Amy.

But I love all of them, even most of the villains. >.>

Oh, I love the Master, especially John Simm's Master. There is such fantastic chemistry between Simm and Tennant and they just crackle together when they're in character. I also ship Doctor/others as well. Mmm ... Four/Romana. I've only seen snippets of them, but it's enough. Romana's regeneration scene was fantastic.

I agree that it's the writing that's hurting Karen Gillan, just like the writing hurt Rose to a degree in series 2. That's why I decided to wait until the end of series 5 to marathon it and see my reaction then. I wasn't enraged, just disappointed, because it felt like they were trying to make Amy be the greatest compaion ever when we were also still getting used to the new Doctor. I liked how Rose, Martha and Donna all stumbled in their first outings, but Amy suddenly is perfect in "The Beast Below." You can tell though that Moffat was using Amy at the end of the episode as a platform to make a point, and it was not good writing. It wasn't fair to the character.

But, like you, I definitely still care what happens to her and I'm glad she got the happy ending with Rory at the end of the series. I'm like you, I tend to love everyone I come across in the series ... except maybe Adam. Him I'd slap. ^_~

Your icon just kind of makes me GLEE. I actually had to look up the significance of that, though. That is, why it was 57. Given context it just makes me adore the Doctor all the more...

I need more DW icons.
